Overview

The Services Volume Index continued to record positive growth of 5.2 per cent, reaching 158.3 points in the first quarter of 2025. This performance was driven by growth in the Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment (4.7%), followed by the Business services and Finance segment (5.3%), the Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (5.9%), and the Other services segment (6.2%).

For quarter-on-quarter comparison, volume index of Services increased by 0.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2025. This growth was supported by increases in the Business services & Finance segment (1.8%) and the Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (0.4%). However, the Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment and the other services segment recorded decreases of 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted volume index for this sector recorded a 0.4 per cent increase to reach 156.8 points in the first quarter of 2025.
