SERVICES PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100)
FIRST QUARTER 2025
- The SPPI continued its
upward trend, rising by 0.6 per cent in the first quarter of 2025, as compared
to 0.5 per cent in the previous quarter.
- The Arts, entertainment
& recreation index increased by 6.6 per cent as compared to a 6.1 per cent
rise in the previous quarter, driven by Other amusement & recreation
activities (2.1%). Meanwhile, the Accommodation and food & beverage service
activities index continued to increase by 3.6 per cent (Q4 2024: 3.1%),
supported by increases in Restaurants and mobile food service activities (4.0%)
and Beverage service activities (3.1%) indices. Other indices also recorded
increases including Education (1.2%), Health (0.6%), Professional (0.5%) and
Real estate activities (0.1%).
- Conversely, the
Transportation index recorded a decline of 3.1 per cent (Q4 2024: -2.4%),
mainly due to the Passenger air transport index (-12.4%). Additionally, the
Information & communication index recorded a decrease by 0.2 per cent, influenced by a decline in the Wireless telecommunications
activities (-0.1%).
- On a quarter-on-quarter
basis, SPPI increased by 0.3 per cent, maintaining the same rate as in the
previous quarter. The increase was primarily driven by the Accommodation and
food & beverage service activities index, which rose by 1.0 per cent,
followed by Education and Arts, Entertainment & Recreation indices, each
recording a 0.7 percent increase. Other indices that showed an increase were
Real estate activities (0.4%), Health (0.3%), Professional (0.2%) and
Transportation (0.1%). Meanwhile, the Information & communication index
remained unchanged.
