The world of work is changing dynamically with technological advancements, digitalisation, globalisation, demographic and climate change. Timely and comprehensive labour market information systems (LMIS) can help provide stakeholders with an up-to-date overview of employment and skill policies. Efficient use of labour market information in policy making can enhance the workforce, keep it updated to meet the changing labour market requirements, and secure decent work. Successful models of gathering, analysing, utilising, and sharing labour market information require targeted and harmonised efforts from various stakeholders from both public and private institutions.
Realising the importance of better data for effective policies, the ATC 2nd Regional Policy Dialogue (RPD) focuses on “Labour Market Information for Better TVET Policy”. This programme discussed the design and implementation of an effective LMIS concerning the labour market, skill, and TVET policies while considering relevant and practical sub-topics to policymakers, i.e. coordinating data, institutional setup, and potential synergy of the different units in the LMIS network & skill anticipation.
Joining the programme, DOSM shared and discussed options and experience regarding the required capacities needed to establish and sustain Labour Market Information (LMI), including financial funding, human resource, infrastructure, collaborating mechanisms, cost-benefit analysis, etc.
