Granular data on SDG indicators can help policymakers and development practitioners provide better programs and services to society. Achieving granularity in SDG indicators derived through surveys often necessitates increasing sample sizes, which is not always practicable or practical for national statistics departments. Innovations in data integration methodologies provide intriguing potential to embrace a new paradigm of granular data collection for SDG monitoring. The workshop introduced participants to the fundamental principles of Small Area Estimation and Machine Learning Techniques to improve the granularity of selected SDG indicators.
