???? During the morning session of Day 3 at #UN55SC, Malaysia wholeheartedly supported, provided insightful suggestions, and contributed valuable opinions on crucial agenda items. The oral statement of Malaysia is as follows:
???? Item 3 (k): Gender statistics
???????? Statement: Malaysia welcomes the Secretary-General's report on Gender Statistics, endorsing innovative methods for collecting time-use data to ensure international comparability. Supporting a gender perspective in trade, business, and climate change statistics, Malaysia aims to monitor and address gender gaps in these sectors. The country agrees with the Statistics Division's call to analyse gender issues on the Commission's agenda, aligning efforts with the SDGs for progress in gender equality. Malaysia supports hosting the 10th Global Forum on Gender Statistics to demonstrate commitment and learn from global experiences. Additionally, Malaysia supports validating the conceptual definition of technology-facilitated violence against women (TF VAW) and developing tools to protect women's rights in the digital era.
???? Item 3 (m): Regional statistical development
???????? Statement: Malaysia acknowledges and values the contributions of the Statistics Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, member countries, and the Bureau in improving statistical systems. Emphasising collaboration, Malaysia is committed to supporting regional initiatives for sustainable development. It suggests regional training institutes collaborate with commissions to provide practical training and highlights ongoing efforts such as the Statcafe platform, webinars, and communities of practice. Malaysia has collaborated with international organisations, providing capacity-building assistance and recently conducting training programs. Appreciating SIAP's efforts, Malaysia expresses openness to collaboration with other organisations to enhance the statistical system at national, regional, and global levels.
