???? Thrilled to be at Asia-Pacific Statistics Week, organised by UNESCAP & UNSIAP! Here are our key takeaways:
1. Approved the SIAP’s 2025 Work Programme, Financial Plan, and 2025-2029 Strategic Plan, with a focus on AI, big data, and climate change statistics. The 21st SIAP Governing Council session will be held in Chiba, Japan, December 2025;
2. Exploring the opportunities on the big data analytics to enhance official statistics methods;
3. The draft report from the 9th Session of the Committee on Statistics highlights key recommendations and decisions aimed at advancing inclusive and agile statistical systems. Key recommendations include accelerating the implementation of the Declaration on Navigating Policy with Data to Leave No One Behind, fostering political and financial support for statistical systems, encouraging inclusive data governance, and developing strategic visions for data; and
4. Decisions focus on promoting a whole-of-society approach, advancing national data partnerships, building agile statistical systems, and reorganising regional groups into flexible task teams. The session also featured events on topics like big data, artificial intelligence, and leveraging civil registration data.
