The publication of Statistics on Women Empowerment in Selected Domains, Malaysia, 2021 presents statistics relating to gender in Malaysia for the years 2018 to 2020 focusing on the core set of gender indicators covering eleven main domains. The statistics were prepared based on updated data from the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) and various agencies. This publication also presents Malaysia Gender Gap Index (MGGI) at the national and state levels. MGGI is prepared based on the methodology from the Global Gender Gap Index (GGGI) published by WEF using data released by the DOSM and other agencies in Malaysia. There were 166.5 thousand deaths recorded in 2020, a decreased of 4.2 per cent (7.2 thousand) as compared to 2019 (173.7 thousand). Ischaemic heart diseases was the principal cause of death in 2020.
