KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Building Materials Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars & with steel bars) showed an increase of the entire building category, with an increase for Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah between 0.1 and 1.7 per cent and Sarawak between 0.1 and 2.1 per cent.
  • Steel recorded the highest increase in Miri (3.8%), followed by Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (2.1%), Kuching (2.1%), Johor (1.8%), Kota Kinabalu (1.5%), Sibu (1.4%), Sandakan (1.3%), Pahang (0.2%), Pulau Pinang, Kedah & Perlis (0.1%) and Terengganu & Kelantan (0.1%).
  • Terengganu and Kelantan showed the highest increase for cement with an increase of 2.7 per cent and followed by Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (2.6%).

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 1.1 per cent in October 2019 to 122.0 as against 120.7 in the same month of the preceding year.

Services Producer Price Index First Quarter Of 2017 *New

The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) is designed to measure the average changes in the prices of services charged by the local services industry in Malaysia on a quarterly basis. This index is the first time issued by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia.

SPPI increased 0.6% in first quarter of 2017 compared to first quarter 2016
