Quarterly Construction Survey

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) is conducting the Quarterly Construction Survey for every quarter. The survey covers 72 industries from the Construction Sector (based on the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification, 2008). This is a mail enquiry survey. The respondents are the main contractors awarded with at least one project valued of RM 500,000 and above. The respondents are given 15 days to complete and return the questionnaires to the Department. The main objective of the survey is to collect the value of work done for each project done by the main contractors. Data such as work commencement date, work completion date and percentage of the physical completion for each project also being collected. The data are used for the compilation of national accounts and specific studies. In addition, the results are used by policy makers, economists, planners and academicians in economic projections and analysis.

Survey of Construction Industries 2013

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) is conducting the Survey of Construction Industries 2013 for reference year 2012. The survey covers all establishments involved in the construction sector and establishments that conduct construction as the main activities.The sampling will be carry out by using probability sampling. A total of 72 items are covered under Section F - Construction, Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification, 2008. This is a mail enquiry survey. Respondents are given one month to complete and return the questionnaires to the Department. The main objective of the survey is to collect information pertaining to growth, contribution, composition and distribution of the manufacturing sector to assist the government in development planning and formulating policies. The data are also used for the compilation of national accounts, input-output tables and specific studies. In addition, the results are used by policy makers, economists, planners and academicians in economic projections and analysis. The information collected is published in the "Report on Survey of Construction Industries" which is available at the Customer Service Unit of DOSM.

Census of Construction Industries

The Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) is conducting the Census of Construction Industries for every five years. The survey covers 72 industries from the Construction Sector (based on the Malaysia Standard Industrial Classification, 2008). This is a mail enquiry survey. The census covers establishments primarily engaged in construction activities. The respondents are given 30 days to complete and return the questionnaires to the Department. The main objective of the survey is to collect information pertaining to growth, composition and distribution of output, value added, employment and other variables of the sector. The data are used to assist the government in development planning and formulating policies. The data can also be used by the private sector and individuals for economic analysis.
