This report presents statistics on the distributive trade sector. The distributive trade sector encompasses the wholesale trade, retail trade and motor vehicles sub-sectors. The information provided is gathered through the Census of Distributive Trade conducted in 2009 for reference year 2008. A preliminary report was published in May 2010 which comprised basic variables such as revenue, expenditure, number of persons engaged, salaries & wages and value of assets at the group level, while this report provides more detail data at the industry level.

Data pertaining to value of gross output, intermediate input, value added, number of persons engaged, salaries & wages and value of assets are published in this report. In addition, data on the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the distributive trade sector compiled from this census is also included. These data are used for planning and policy formulation as well as for economic projection and analysis purposes by the government and researchers.

The report consists of three parts. Summary findings of the census is highlighted in the first part of the report. The second part focuses on the technical aspects including the objectives, scope and coverage as well as relevant concepts and definitions used in the census. Detailed statistical tables are included in the third part of the report to facilitate analysis by users.
