Labour Force Survey (LFS) 2012

The main objective of LFS is to collect information related to the structure and characteristic of labour force, employment and unemployment. Besides providing estimates at national and state level, this survey also provides useful aggregated data by urban and rural areas. The LFS covers both urban and rural areas of all states in Malaysia. Personal interview method is used in which trained interviewers will visit households in selected living quarters during the survey period to collect information on all household members including their demographic particulars. Information on labour force is collected for household members who are 15 years and over only. In response to the requirement for more real time data, the LFS is conducted monthly beginning January 2004 to produce monthly labour force indicators at national level.

Migration Survey 2012

Migration Survey is carried out simultaneously with the LFS and covers the same survey population i.e. urban and rural areas for all states in Malaysia. The population covered consists of persons aged one year and over residing in selected private living quarters in Malaysia. The main objective of Migration Survey is to provide estimates of population movements and trends at state level. In addition, this survey also aims to obtain the socio-economic information of migrants and non-migrants such as age, sex, employment and type of occupation at the place of destination. The scope of migration data in the survey is limited to fixed-term migration. Respondents are asked for the usual place of residence on two specific reference dates which are exactly one year apart. A change in the usual place of residence locality between these two points constitutes migration.

Salaries and Wages Survey 2012

Salaries and Wages Survey is conducted using household approach via the Labour Force Survey. Basic wage rate can be obtained from this survey and is used to measure wage differentials and gender wage gap. Salaries and wages information is only collected from respondents aged 15 and over with the status in employment of either “Government Employee” or “Private Employee”. The survey is conducted in January until June and the reference period is a month prior to the survey month.

National Integrity Survey 2011

Department of Statistics, Malaysia (DOSM) (IIM) in collaboration with Malaysian Integrity Institute (IIM) has been conducting the National Integrity Survey since 2007, covered three target groups that are households, economic establishment and civil servant. As for data collection, face to face interview are used. Input from this survey will be used to establish the National Integrity Index consisted of six (6) sub indexes i.e Index Perception in Corruption, Public Service Delivery System, Best Practices in Corporate Governance and Business Ethic, Perception Against Family and Community, Quality of Life and Politeness of People of the Nation. The element of National Key Results Areas (NKRA), Government Transformation Programs (GTP) and 1Malaysia Idea are taking into account for this year survey.
