| This report presents statistics on the mining and quarrying sector for reference year 2010 based on a census which was carried out in 2011. The Mining Census have been carried out since 1963, while the Stone Quarrying Census began in 1972. Since 2000, censuses of the mining and quarrying sector were carried out once in every 5 years. This report also consists of secondary data obtained from Mineral and Geosciences Department, Malaysia and Malaysian Chamber of Mines.
The main objective of the report is to publish data pertaining to principal statistics of the mining and quarrying sector such as value of gross output, value of intermediate input, value added, total number of persons engaged, salaries & wages paid and value of fixed assets owned. The summary findings of the Census is contained in the first part of the report while the second part focuses on the technical aspects of the census such as scope and coverage, methodology, definitions and concepts used. Detailed statistical tables are presented in the report to facilitate users in their analysis. |
