CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, MALAYSIA
 

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) Malaysia measures the percentage change through time in the cost of purchasing a constant basket of goods and services which represents the expenditure pattern of all households in Malaysia in a specified time period. It is calculated based on the international standard and procedures; known as the Laspeyres formula. The index which is expressed in terms of 2005 = 100 is a composite index, weighted by regional expenditure weights, of three regional indices computed separately for Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

Prices of 460 items are used in the computation of the index monthly.
