REVISED INTERCENSAL MID-YEAR POPULATION ESTIMATES BY STATES, MALAYSIA 1992 - 1999

No. of pages

236

PriceRM30.00

This report presents revised population estimates for the intercensal period, 1992 to 1999. It aims to provide a consistent series of population estimates and demographic rates for the intercensal years, based on data from the 1991 and 2000 Population and Housing Censuses. The data is prepared by age group, sex and ethnic group at state and national levels.

The estimates are generated using inputs from natural increase, that is, the excess of births over deaths without taking into account the migration factor. As a consequence, discontinuities exist in trends between the mid-year population estimates prepared with that of the 2000 Population and Housing Census results. As such, adjustments to the population estimates, as produced in this report are necessary.
